wrestling - taking an opponent to the ground

Wrestling is probably the world's oldest martial art, with many references scattered throughout ancient history. In these classes we aim to teach our athletes how to gain control of a standing opponent and take them to the ground. We take the best that is on offer from numerous grappling styles such as Judo, Freestyle Wrestling and Greco roman wrestling and use them in a system that has immediate carry over in the mixed martial arts environment.

Griphouse coaches Dean Reilly and Kieran Malone will be running 3 x 2 week blocks of training between the 5th of July and the 6th of August. Every separate block will consist of 10 training sessions over the 2 weeks from Monday-Friday consisting of 1 hour and 15 minutes sessions beginning at 10am and finishing at 11:15am. The cost being £50.

We are looking at between 5-17 year olds. If we get enough interest we will be hoping to run split sessions. With a younger group session and then the older kids later.

Beginning this summer the Future Stars programme aims to provide kids and teenagers with an activity and something to do over the sometimes monotonous holiday period. It hast he have the objective of bringing the sport of Olympic freestyle wrestling to the masses and get Scottish youngsters as a whole more active while taking part in this fun sport which has origins as the first ever Olympic Sport back in ancient Greece.

So tell friends and family and alike so we can drum up as much support for this as possible.
